Next door to the Hollywood Wax Museum in California is a very unique historical building. It contains many unmentionable items, from Madonna's black bustier to Peg Bundy's lingerie. This historical site is known as Frederick's of Hollywood Celebrity Lingerie Hall of Fame.

History of The Celebrity Lingerie Hall of Fame

Frederick Mellinger was the innovative mind behind many of today's most popular styles of lingerie. Not only did he sell lingeries, underwear, corsets, and many other types of unmentionables, but he actually designed many of the styles. In 1989 the Lingerie Museum was opened to the public, where examples of all the popular lingerie designs through the years were displayed. A section of this museum was deemed the Celebrity Lingerie Hall of Fame. The public loved it. Everyone wanted to emulate the fashions worn by the stars, all the way down to their sexy lingerie.

One particularly popular piece was Madonna's purple bustier with gold tassels. During some riots that took place after the famous Rodney King trials, the bustier was stolen and never seen again. To make up for this loss, Madonna donated a new black bustier to the museum in return for a donation of $10,000 dollars by the store to a charity which helps the less fortunate receive mammograms.

In 2005, the store changed locations. During that time, the Lingerie Museum and the Celebrity Lingerie Hall of Fame were eliminated from the store.
